Potty Training

Hi, sorry if I sound a bit silly. When people say they’ve started potty training, does that mean no nappies or just offering the potty so they get used to using it?

We’ve gone no nappies except for at nap and night time. Every day is a case of reminding him to sit on the potty and keeping an eye on when and how often he’s been. He’s still not quite getting it so I’d definitely say we’ve only ‘started’ potty training 😂 my daughter picked it up in 3 days so not sure how long my son will take

Aww ok thank you 🤣. Is he in pants? Feel a bit overwhelmed with it all

I read the ‘oh crap potty training’ book with my first and it worked well so I’m going with the same approach with my son. Basically naked from the waist down until they start to get the idea, then go commando so they get the idea of pants up and down and when they’re really on their way underwear too, we’re currently in commando phase

Thank you xx

I don’t consider that I’ve started potty training (I’ve just had my 2nd baby so want to wait a couple of months so my son has a chance to get used to this big change first) but I did introduce a potty a few months ago. I don’t put any pressure on it, but the potty lives in our bathroom, and my son asks to do his wee-wee on it before having a bath. Not sure if this familiarity will help when I do go for it with the potty training, but figured it can’t do any harm 🤷

we didn't put pressure on it ether we just let her decide when she was ready and one day she just woke up and wanted to use the potty/toilet. we did lots of days with no nappy (few accidents) until there was no accidents at all. then we re introduced pants as originally she was just using the pants like she would a nappy and would wee in them. now we only use nappies for bed time x

also is your little one in nursery/day care? I found in her class allot of the children where using the potty/toilet which made her want to use it too x

I’d say it’s starting with no nappies. It’s been 2 weeks now since we ditched nappies (only at night) and I’d say my daughter is “toilet trained”.

Thank you everyone x
