y’all probably see my posts all the time (sorry😅) but i had a sweep wednesday, and have been labouring since thursday morning during the night. that was when contractions started, i entered the latent phase of labour. i went to triage as they were every 2-5 minutes, but they gradually became more irregular, and triage examined me and said i was only 1cm. the contractions are still irregular but so much more painful, they’ve definitely intensified. they were between every 5-10 minutes so we went back to triage this morning, 24 hours after last being there and they said i was now 3cm, which they’re happy with and said i just need to get to 4cm to be in established labour! so i’m close, but it’s still taking a while, so im at home waiting to progress. im tired, im in pain, im crying during every contraction, but now the contractions are spreading further apart again being between every 15-30 minutes, sometimes longer. but they’re so painful. anyone have any tips? i feel so pressured to move around, to do stuff but i just want to sleep. i’m waking up all hours of the night contracting, that’s when they seem to be most regular and then they die out during the day. i don’t want to sleep because i feel i should be doing stuff to get this baby out, but idk what to do and im in so much pain 😭

Bless you. I had this with my first baby, it was 4 days long of this! I personally would sleep if you can! You need all the energy for birthing this baby!! Good luck lovely xxxx

@Maisie wow 4 days!! i can’t imagine that, thank you lovely i def think ill try and get some sleep. with my first, my waters was the first thing to go and he was born 8 hours later, so i keep thinking this labour would progress a lot quicker if my waters go but they’re still in tact annoyingly! although the midwife yesterday and the one today both said my waters feel like they’re bulging and are ready to go, but they just want burst ahah! xxxx

Awww bless you! Defo rest if you can, since the contractions are giving you a chance to do so. Just to take your mind of it l know it’s hard because the more you think of it you putting your body under added stress and it slows everything down.

@Wayne maybe that’s why i seem to contract a lot during the night when sleeping? during the day i have so much stress because i have midwives, my partner and my family telling me i need to be moving i need to exercise i need to bounce on my ball etc, but im thinking can’t relaxing just help labour along too?? like during the night my contractions go like crazy 😭🤣 i just feel so much pressure during the day to do all these things when i just want to lay on the sofa and let it come xx

Try rubbing baby oil on nipples after a nice hot shower 🛀 🚿 or bath... worked for me

@Sinead yes! I noticed this too mine are bad at night time and early hours of the morning then during the day SILENT! But do what helps you relax and release oxytocin that hormone is key . It’s easier said than done but just rest when possible

Try and relax, have a dark room sit or lean on your ball and watch a good bit of telly. Eat if you can and drink as much as you can too x

So so sorry this is so stressful fot you, you must be shattered. I'm a FTM and over my due date, so no personal experience but was advised in antenatal class to either be active, or if you feel tired, actually the opposite - have a warm bath, listen to a chilled playlist, keep the lights dim and try to let the oxytocin take over. Far easier said than done, really hope you make some progression soon xx
