Crocs - what to buy?

Nursery have recommended crocs as our son loves all the water play in the garden. For people who have them - did you buy the proper brand? I’m a bit worried about cheap ones not providing proper support etc. but they are expensive considering how fast feet grow! Did you stick to standard shoe sizes or do they come up bigger or anything?

My son will only wear crocs or wellies, hes really fussy with shoes. We find Croc style shoes can go either way on size it really is best to try them on if possible. My sons currently using b&m cheap ones but he has a pair of next dinosaur ones and some croc branded black ones (for nursery) ones in the next size up. I find theres not really much difference between the real crocs and fake ones 🤷‍♀️

I don't think even expensive crocs would give good foot support to be honest. I've gone for something more like this: https://www.next.co.uk/style/st478115/210989?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADm_5UUFxdlpTwNiKg-Z9u5j-6FHo&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5azABhD1ARIsAA0WFUEt3mKxSnftPpX5AlOAxw0RARDxPVwrLrrTIJjRYIIqbyba9PAfKykaAkczEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds#210989

I kept getting an advert for lightning McQueen crocs off of a website called characters.co.uk or something, they’re actually really good! I don’t think you need real crocs x

You can get the proper crocs on Amazon for £10 cheaper than the website I did for my little boy

@Rachael we have ones like this, but no good with water as they have material on. We need something plasticy that nursery can put on for water play and they can wipe down dry. But thanks for the recommendation 😊

Strange they are suggesting crocs as they are not supportive or really offer much protection. Are they going to change his shoes before he does water play? M&S do a “croc” style sandal and are considerably cheaper

I got my little one Matalan or Asda ones in the past year for toilet training I don't think there is much difference in them! She is currently a 6f but wears a 5 in them as the 6 were a little too big. Worth trying them on!

@Francesca yes it’s just for the water play. Otherwise he soaks his shoes and then has nothing else to wear rest of the day 🙄 soaked both his wellies and shoes today! Whereas something plasticy like crocs could be dried then put back on again later if needed

I think I’m now leaning more towards the plasticy jelly sandals for water play as at least you can find some good ones with better support than crocs!

@Leonie jelly sandals sound ideal - much better for running around in I think.

My little one had Tesco ones last year for water play at nursery. I'll do the same this year. They don't need to be branded.

You can also order them much cheaper on Vinted. I’ve gotten two pair of there for less than half the original price in great quality!
