Health anxiety

Hoping for some advice from anybody that’s suffered with this and how you dealt with it. My anxiety in general has been quite high lately and my thoughts about illness etc spiral, mainly about my child and myself and recently my mum also. It’s torture, dreading the worst and worrying about the future. I’ve been to my gp and he prescribed me sertraline but I’ve heard bad stories from friends who have used this in the past about it making them feel completely numb. What’s worked for you?

Anxiety is hard and when it flares up, it’s hard to cope – maybe you need to start seeing a counselor and they can do some cognitive behavioral therapy as an alternative to medication. There’s tapping techniques and EMDR. These are techniques that you can do in public and no one knows why you’re doing them that you’re doing themfor overtime they’ll help lesson your feelings of anxiousness maybe keeping a gratitude, journal and writing in it every day, getting outside doing the things you like to do eating the food you like to eat.

Having someone to talk to that unbiased and nonjudgmental is really a big deal!

Please dont use pills, maybe give a meditation, specially chakra meditation a try and you feel instant relief and change in 15 minutes. Look up color therapy, people pay to get this done at clinic, but we all actually can do it at home for free, it helps me so much ❤️

Focus on the present moment. The more you practice the easier it gets. Mindfulness 💛

I suffer from health anxiety too, so I really feel for you! I go through good and bad phases with it, but one thing that has helped is counselling. My counsellor is person centred, which works for me currently, although I've tried other types in the past.

If you’re looking for another medication propanalol is supposed to be good. I’ve been prescribed that but haven’t took it yet as I’m worried 😆 I suffer with health anxiety and emetaphobia and I’m really struggling too, I’m looking into hypnotherapy x
