Dummies!

I got rid of my little one’s dummy at around 7 months. She’s now 13 months. She sleeps really well so this is not for a sleep fix BUT I am finding in the last month or so that often when I’m out she can be really challenging, especially if I’m in the supermarket or something and I find it really overwhelming when she’s unhappy and I’m out and sometimes I’m considering reintroducing a dummy to calm her down when this happens. Is this really silly? Do I just suck up that she doesn’t enjoy being stuck in her buggy now that she’s walking and that’s why she whinges when I’m out? Any Mums in a similar position? Any suggestions? I’ve tried snacks but if she is in THAT mood she will just throw things onto the floor!

My lo stopped having a dummy at 3 months with teething and everything else we give lo a muslin and it works well x

If she doesn’t enjoy being stuck in a buggy putting a dummy in her mouth isn’t going to solve the problem just paper over it if it works at all. Distraction, singing to her, favourite toy, getting her involved in the shop all will probably be more effective. I wouldn’t reintroduce

@Emma I do all of those things! We talk all round the shops but often she just really doesn’t like being in the supermarket (trolley or buggy)

@Shyla-Karris she has a muslin for sleeps, I haven’t tried giving it to her recently if I’m out and about as if she’s in that mood she will just throw it on the floor 🤣

I wouldn’t re introduce a dummy if I was you they’re a nightmare to get rid of when older, my son was 2 and it was chaos worse than kicking off in supermarket etc 😂. I know frowned upon but could you go to the till and buy her a snack she likes to eat then feed her it’s on the way round something that’ll take a while to eat My little girl likes just holding a multipack of crisps 😂 as you do xx
