We’ve just started doing this and it is hard! But like you say he simply wasn’t settling downstairs or he’d have to be on me, and then I’d disrupt him putting him down after a few hours. I put him in his next to me after a cuddle and bedtime routine, then have the monitor on - the first night we went in to check on him in 15 minute intervals, and gradually have stopped doing that. It’s only ever for 1 or 2 hours but it does make a difference x
@Jess thank you this is what I needed to hear! We’re going to start from tomorrow my partners got a week off work so he’s here to take turns on check ins.
I would definitely say don't stress if it doesn't go according to plan. In theory we like to get my little one down at 7.30 in his cot and I've only in the last few days gotten brave enough to leave the room with the baby monitor and the owlet sock on him. Prior to the Easter weekend this was working well but all the disruption of going away and being around family derailed this and since we've been back we haven't got back on it yet. I also think moving him up an ounce has confused matters a little bit so he's gone to sleep closer to 8.30 after much settling, giggling and refusing to go to sleep. I think I remember this the last time we increased his feed so hoping it will settle down again after he gets used to it
