Are you asking because you want to be induced early or because someone has advised that you need to be induced?

If you’re 42 weeks and no sign of labour, if your baby is in distress, or u have underlying medical conditions that require an earlier delivery they will offer an induction of labour x

Asking as it’s getting very uncomfortable now and keep seeing people being induced

Most people being offered inductions at the moment aren’t actually being induced until around the 37/38/39 week mark. A lot of the inductions being mentioned are due to babies growth becoming restricted or because of preeclampsia or gestational diabetes. They will rarely induce you because of feeling uncomfortable because it’s not medically necessary and being induced before your body is ready to give birth massively increases your risk of needing further medical interventions. This last bit is really hard but the closer you can get to 40 weeks the better for baby x

Has difficult as it is i would let baby cook as much has you can! Although inductions can be great where medically necessary it comes with a lot of risks and complications that could happen. Spontaneous labour will be so much better. I was offered an induction that failed last pregnancy which ended in a C-section and baby was in nicu. Obviously this is my experience and there are many lovely induction stories out there i definitely wouldn’t have one unless medically necessary ☺️

If you have uncontrolled gestational diabetes

It could be for anything like being induced early due to small/ big birth weight , gestational diabetes , too much fluid around the baby , dips in heart rate , dropping on the grow chart , health conditions affecting pregnancy. I was induced with my last baby at 40+2 due to big birth weight. But if u go over 40 weeks they do book u in for an induction if you show no signs of labor.

I had a stillbirth previously and they've told me I can be induced at 38 weeks x

They absolutely will not induce you unless it was medically necessary. Simply being uncomfortable and wanting to be done with pregnancy isn’t a reason to be induced. Why would anyone want their baby to come early unless they absolutely have to? Everyone gets uncomfortable towards the end of pregnancy.

I was just simply asking a question to why they would induce. Am fully aware it gets uncomfortable.
