I understand that breastfeeding isn't a reliable form of birth control, but what about trying to conceive or fertility?

I'm 15 months pp. My period came back at 4 months. I have regular periods that span 3 to 6 days. We are trying to have baby #2 and have been trying for 3 months now. A mom I met who's had to go through other interventions said that my breastfeeding could be delaying conception because of something with my uterine lining during breastfeeding? I only nurse once a day before bed. Could that one session be delaying me getting pregnant ? Any experience or knowledge would be super helpful ❤️

Get yourself some ovulation test strips. Do the deed the day of and the day after💗

Yes definitely ovulation test. I got pregnant first try while still nursing 1-2 times per day (kiddo then weaned after pregnancy began)

I was not able to get pregnant while Breastfeeding. After I stopped completely (at 14months) got pregnant in two months. My period was back 7/8m pp so it looked like everything was working but hormones are different while breastfeeding and could definitely impact conceiving

@Katharine @🪷Faith🪷 okay for ovulation test, how often are you doing them during the week? How often in one day? I also took the test for the 3 months that we've been trying and i didn't notice the positive line was significantly darker on any of the days I tested

Yes breastfeeding can affect fertility even if you've got your period. Get the clear blue ovulation kits they are so easy and clear and the only reliable ones (took us a year to conceive). Take it mid morning during your 2nd pee and you only so it once a day. Have sex the 3 days leading up to ovulation and the day of and the day after (if you can manage it) Take a prenatal supplement, vitamin d 2000IUs, both of you should be taking coq10 200mg, and your partner should be taking a multivitamin high in zinc. Good luck!!
