Gentle sleep training

Has anyone done gentle sleep training/how did it go? Please no judgement, I have always hated the idea of sleep training but currently a very sleep deprived mum as baby has been waking multiple times since the 4 month regression and we are now at 8 months.. nobody else other than me can soothe him either so I cannot catch a break.

We have done very very gentle sleep training absolutely no cry it out and attention, assurance, every time she cries. Message me if you like as I will run out of characters explaining properly on here! X

I’m feeling exactly the same. Any tips would be great, I hate the idea of cry it out too but on the other hand I’m exhausted. 4 month sleep regression never stopped for us either. Feel free to message me if you want to rant/vent, I’m available to chat 22/7 😃

also have done gentle sleep training and very happy for you to message me xx

Please no negativity if it’s not for you but we ‘sleep trained’ both of our children. We let them cry for 3 minutes then going in picking them up to comfort and as soon as they stopped crying put back into bed and saying ‘night night it’s bedtime’. And repeat setting a 3 minute timer every time they started crying. If at any point during the 3 minute timer they stopped crying (eg to suck thumb) you stop the timer and restart it for the full 3 minutes if they started crying again. This is because that’s them trying to self soothe. Being completely honest the first night took 45 mins for my daughter to go to sleep but by the fourth night she was only crying for a couple of seconds before going to sleep. She now sleeps 11.5 hours a night as opposed to waking every couple of hours. Also things to note are we have white noise on all night, the room is completely black (look up Bloc blinds - they are worth every penny!) and we always say the same thing right before putting her into bed.

@Charlotte thank you! Do you also do this during the night when they wake?

Yes naps and nighttime sleep. The key is really be consistent with it other wise it will confuse them. You’ll feel like you’re pressing stop start on the timer constantly at first haha but will be worth it if you decide to give it a go! X
