Do you rock and transfer at home, or rock and contact nap? You’ll probably find baby wearing combined with the heat does the trick, I’d suggest trying it out a bit at home first though so you’re familiar with getting set up and comfortable for both you and baby x
Our first holiday with our LO was when she was about this age. We were really worried about naps as she’s such a FOMO baby and sleeping in a pushchair was unheard of! Anyway, she slept like a trooper, slept in the pushchair as soon as she went in and would have 3 or 4 30 minute naps throughout the day! Think being in and out of the pool and the heat knackered her out! We’re going away again this year and she’ll be nearly two so I who knows how she’ll be!
@Amy yes, Istanbul - I’m hoping it’ll be warm in May!
@Jess but if both tbh - she sleeps better with contact naps. I’m thinking of trying to get her used to her new stroller at home before going. She’s never used a carrier so might give that a go too actually
Mine slept in the stroller and in the carrier or being held
My girl is a pretty awful sleeper, but I actually love going away with her and not needing/having the structure of everyday life. We're out all day, she'll sleep in the pram or being worn when she just passes out. Sometimes she'll fall asleep at inconvenient time, but you're on holiday! So bed times don't really matter as much and you just roll with the punches. It always stresses me out a bit when she blows past a wake window, but I just keep doing whatever we had planned for the day and she will fall asleep at some point and be totally okay. My advice was to be super flexible and just enjoy yourself!
We’ve just come back from Majorca with our 15 month old and we let him dictate when he wanted to nap because of the heat and it didn’t affect his sleep to much because there was so much going on at the resort in the evening he still slept like he usually did during the night. During the day we just lay him bag in his pushchair and offered him a really thin blanket x
@Chris was it more difficult when coming home and falling back into routine? Were going from 14th May to 20th May
I just recently went on holiday with my little one and we would do everything in the morning like get ready, have breakfast and lunch and things and then I would leave at her nap time with her in the buggy so while I was walking somewhere she would fall asleep. And she hardly ever falls asleep in the buggy while at home. During my previous holidays though I think I just put her in bed like I usually do
@Zarah on our big trip we flew from Australia to Europe and back (10mo). So with the jet lag it took a couple days for us both to adjust. We've just recently come back from a long weekend away - just a 2hr drive (18mo), and were completely normal that night and from the next day
Is it abroad? If so, the heat makes them more tired! We used to put our son in the pram and go for a walk and he’d go off really easily x
