Do I have to return to my original job after maternity leave ? To avoid paying money back , or as long as I'm in a job still in the NHS would that be okay ?

I’ve just been put up for redundancy by my employer of 3 years. But the person who was employed on a temp contract for my maternity cover has been given a permanent role a few months ago and taken off my mat cover. Is this allowed? Shouldn’t I have been offered this role?

I have been on maternity leave for 6 months now. My pay was significantly reduced this month. I do know if I take a year of maternity leave. The last 3 months would not be paid. However, I didn't realise that my pay could be reduced. Does anyone have a good understanding of how it works?
