Infant gaviscon and breastfeeding
My 4.5 week old has just been prescribed gaviscon to help with his reflux. However, as I am exclusively breastfeeding him I’m not sure how to give him the required dose. We tried to give him a bottle for the first time tonight with the dose mixed in with expressed breast milk, but he really wasn’t happy taking a bottle so he barely drank any. The instructions also suggest giving it on a spoon, but I’m pretty sure he’d just spit it out! Anyone else had to give gaviscon to a breastfed baby? If so, how did you do it?!

Hey dear, how did you get to know baby has reflux and need medicine for it?
@SABRIN ARIFA I took him to the GP and discussed his symptoms and the GP suspected it to be reflux and prescribed us gaviscon. We’re doing a 2 week trial of it to see if things improve and then we have a follow up appointment with the GP. If things have improved then we will continue on gaviscon, but if not then the GP said he would do some further investigations to see what else it could be that is causing my little one so much discomfort. Hope that helps!

Hey! So I used to pour boiling water into a little medicine cup thingy, wait for it to cool etc. Mix the sachet as prescribed then syringe it into their mouth but try putting it in their cheek/back of cheek so they swallow it x
