Help! Frozen milk

Hello! I have a question and I’m really sad about this, I had a small stash for my baby in my garage freezer and I just went there to put another bag that I pumped today and some of the stash was unfrozen… I don’t know what happened, it wasn’t all of it, but a good amount, there’s bags that are half frozen but not completely, are those bags bad already? I decided to throw away the ones that are completely defrosted cause k don’t know how long it’s been like that and makes me scared to use on my baby… I’m really really sad about this since I produce just enough for my baby and I’m trying to build a small stash just in case I ever need to with her and it’s been hard work… I’m so sad right now I don’t know if all of it is bad now that is half defrosted or not or if I’ll have to throw everything away 😓… any advice? I decided to save some colostrum I have and it was mostly frozen but still a little soft I don’t know what to do ☹️

If the bags still have some ice crystals on them, it’s safe to refreeze.

@Jessica thank you!!

Maybe power was lost for a while. Check on the bags daily that way you know for a fact that the unfreeze is new or a day old. The defrosted bags are good for couple of days so you could have used those for feeds and store your new feed.

If there’s ice crystals or it’s still partially frozen, it’s safe to put back in the freezer.

@Robbie yes I think we lost power for a while.. and that’s the thing I don’t check on it everyday bc I don’t have extra everyday… so I just go when I collect for like 2 days on the fridge and then make a bag so that’s why I don’t know how long it was

Also the unusable bags can still be used for milk baths and things!

This is my worse fear. Second post I have seen. That’s it im getting a temp alarm to put in my freezer! Im sorry that happened to you
