What should I do?

I am due in less than 3 weeks and we have set up the baby bed just in case. My cat just loves it and started sleeping in there. I'm unsure on what to do. Should I do something to avoid her sleeping in there? Should I let her sleep there? I'm not sure how she will take it once the baby is here..will she be jealous? Will she sleep in there even when the baby is there? I know that could be very dangerous!

My friend put foil in hers to keep the cat out before baby arrives and it worked 🤷‍♀️😂 x

I would make them get out straight away whenever they were in her crib and I also put boxes / other things in there so they couldn’t get comfy as the last thing I wanted was for them to be territorial over the bed when baby came as cats love to claim their sleeping spots 😅 now they won’t go near the crib or her hardly, they sleep on the bed next to it

My cat loved the crib, changing table, stroller... you name it lol once my son was born, he slept in his crib with my son a few times *monitored* but quickly grew out of it. Once my son got old enough to annoy my cat, my cay retreated lol my cat is the sweetest and extremely patient with my son so I trust him 100%! My son is 3.5now and he and my cat get along great! So my advice is, your cat is probably just interested in all the new furniture and may back away once your baby is there.

@Ariel she used to be much more close to my husband before I got pregnant so I take as if now that I'm pregnant she is keeping an eye on me and I guess the next to me crib is a perfect spot for her to keep an eye on me! I'm unsure on whether to let her stay in the bed until baby is here or get her used to NOT go in there

@Cath I will maybe try to put some staff in there so she doesn't go anymore but I think she is keeping an eye on me since I got pregnant as before she was much closer to my husband and sleeping mostly on him rather than next to me

My cats used to sleep in mine before the baby was born and for a while after, but now they hate my baby and never set foot in her crib, I assume that’s because it smells like her or something. As someone else said, foil also helps.

I put tinfoil in the bottom of mine to deter my cats before she was born! I needn’t have worried tho, neither of them would even come in the room when she was asleep with us and they’ve only just started coming back in now she’s in her own room (7 months old) x

Mine slept in everything that was meant for the baby but as soon as a baby was in there he steered clear - he’s one now and has never even attempted to get in with him. All cats are different I think you just have to see.

lol my cat is the same I have a maternity pillow and she’s in the middle of it on the bed and she sits inside a nappy caddy with children’s clothes in. Personally I wouldn’t worry. Xx
