I am due to deliver at the grange too and am closer to Prince Charles , I have had 2 previous babies under cwm taff and 1 prev at ABU, I am high risk and am worried about getting to the grange on time however , in my experience, I’d rather give birth in the car than have another baby at PCH .
I'm about to go to the grange in May..I've heard great things about them from friends and if their traige care is anything to go by, you'll be in safe hands
I think YYF is the only nurse led / midwife led hospital. The grange have consultants/Dr’s/Midwives there. I’ve heard mixed reviews on both tbh. I know in the Grange you get a room of your own and I have heard that the care there is great. Some may say the same about PCH but I’ve heard not so good things too. Hope you find the right hospital for you.
I went to the birth centre in the Grange and it was lovely. Then went onto the ward because of possible things wrong with baby (all was fine). I really liked it there though and we had an hour drive to get there too, made it there about 20 mins before baby popped out
I had my little one in the grange and honestly it was the worse, the staff are so over run. It’s your birth and your experience you go where you feel is best for you x
I had my baby in the Grange 8 weeks ago and I don’t have a bad thing to say about it. I was in for 4 days as I was being induced and had an assisted birth and the staff were constantly checking in making sure I was ok and had everything I needed.
I had my baby last Sept via elective c under consultant led care due to being high risk. It was the best experience and I found the staff, at all levels, genuine and fantastic. I was given space to stay extra time to get to grips with managing pain too which was a huge help.
I gave birth 11 days ago in grange, there was issues with my body during labour and baby had alot of Mec. I was then shipped off for an emergency c-section and had my baby removed from me. We were transferred to high dependency unit and had attention for 48 hours before being transferred to labour ward. They were lovely, listened to me and was more than happy to rub my back when partner needed to step out during labour. They were all lovely and I'm very appreciative for them for caring for me and my baby so much. Xxx
I had an emergency c section at the grange in December, the 2 midwives I had before it and the surgery team were absolutely amazing! They made me feel so calm! But the staff and care I received on the ward afterwards was awful! I was left with my IV leaking which soaked all the bed and me for ages, even though o was in a private room they made my partner go home afterwards and left me alone with my son all night. I couldn’t move at all! I couldn’t even lean over to grab him! When asking them to pass me him so I could feed him they just took him out of the room and brought him back in screaming! They chucked him in the crib and I had to pull just to get him out and soothe him! They wouldn’t let me sleep all night and damaged me literally ripping out the catheter! So honestly it can go 2 ways depending on the team and people on shift I suppose? But I’d go where you feel most comfortable and safe! Xx
I'm closer to uhw but they wouldn't let me go there so had to go to the Grange to have my baby last year. I was quite poorly at the end of the pregnancy and I was admitted into the Grange after being let home after a fainting episode in triage and then passed out on the way home in the car so was taken back in. I felt the staff weren't taking my condition seriously and I had to push to have simple things done like blood sugars as I was passing out and having funny episodes. I had about 3 nice midwifes caring for me but the rest were rude and judgemental cus of my other health conditions. Finally after 4 days and 2 sweeps they burst my waters, I had my baby and it was all a bit of a panic at the end,I was lucky I had an experienced midwife on as baby cut off her own cord as she was coming out so i had to get her out fast. If I had another baby I would not go back there personally.
Thank you everyone for sharing. I really don’t fancy going to the grange… I just have the feeling that I want to be somewhere familiar and PCH is that for me… I know the midwives and obstetric staff… I’d just feel more comfortable there.
I had my birth at the grange and it was the best experience I have had. My previous birth was at Gloucester and i didn't think it was the best, they were very pushy with what they did and so forth.
