Toddler started going “wah wah” mimicking a baby when crying?

No idea why they’re doing it but finding it really irritating, loud and makes it impossible to try and help. The cries and reason can be genuine but with the added “wah” I just… can’t. Communication and language is great so I don’t understand the regression to this? We are pretty responsive (not perfect but we try). Anyone else experiencing similar?

I don’t have any advice but my daughter is doing the same when her baby sister cries. Don’t know 100% why she does it, but I do think it’s just for attention sometimes. It’s definitely annoying though because my girl thinks she’s funny for ‘crying’ as well.

My daughter is the same! And making up random words even though she is very conversational.

There mimicking behaviour to see how you react to them and as a way to understand baby’s needs by role playing it for themselves. This is still communication and development as it shows they are listening and mirroring others behaviour whether that be for positive or negative outcomes

Thanks for the replies! She’s an only child and we have only been around one baby who doesn’t actually cry very much at all but wonder if it’s from role playing with dolls etc or the occasional episode of Ms Rachel we watch. I did think this was the case but still a struggle as I can’t seem to get through to her during it and it all gets very loud 😂
