Breast milk bath with breast milk containing dairy

When my LO was first diagnosed with suspected CMPA I froze my expressed milk for a few days. My thought was to try it again in a couple of months to check he was definitely allergic without getting it in my system again. I’m certain he is allergic so don’t need to do that and don’t want to feed him this milk now as I know it will make him ill. Do you think using it in a breast milk bath would be ok? I feel like CMPA babies would only react to digesting dairy and not via skin contact but I’m not sure.

i’m not sure but if you can’t put it in a bath, it might be a really nice idea to donate it to a local hospital for nicu babies who’s mum’s milk hasn’t come in yet x same if you have any colostrum

@Libby oh I didn’t know you could do that. I’ll look into that!

@Libby it is perfectly safe to put it in a bath

@Megan you can use it in a bath. It won't harm him in any way. It will only hurt him if it's ingested

@Abby thanks :)

@Megan you're welcome. My first had a cmpa and a soy allergy and it was hell. I had asked his pediatrician about it and she had said it is fine to use it in a bath which relieved me bc then I knew that it wouldn't go to waste

My boy was great with breastmilk baths despite his CMPA up until he was about 6 months. Then he got a bit too coordinated and kept trying to drink it or would splash and get some that way and in the end, he was reacting more often than not and was just creating lots of drama so I stopped 😂 I haven’t been able to donate my breastmilk as my hospital wouldn’t accept donations but I have sent off for a ring to be made with part of his umbilical cord and my breastmilk. Our BF journey ended very very quickly so I find it nice for me to have that to look back on the short time we did get to do xx
