Thank you for sharing! I’m also about 3 cm dilated as of today and my OB shared that she thinks my labor could be around 10 hours. I’m feeling contractions but they are not too painful as they should be. I hope my labor is as smooth as yours sounded!
@Kealoha That’s a great sign. I was only 1 cm for my induction and it still was a positive experience. As long as you and baby are stable you can be as aggressive as you want with interventions. I did find that things like a membrane sweep and breaking my water helped. I had cytotec and a foley ballon. The foley ballon was rough before an epidural but it got me into real labor and I didn’t need an epidural. If you do an overnight labor I highly recommend an epidural so you can sleep. It’s not the best sleep of your life but important because I didn’t sleep well postpartum. Good luck!
I absolutely loved my experience. I felt like I got to have a bit more control over the process which was great as a FTM with high anxiety 😂 I went in at 4 cm, 70% effaced, and was already having contractions I couldn’t really feel. I started on pitocin around 10:30 pm, started feeling painful contractions around 12:30. Epidural around 1, then baby was here by 4 am! They did tell me I went insanely fast for a FTM, but having the epidural as soon as I was able helped me be well rested to push. I could have pushed way longer than I did! Honestly my biggest complaint was that my hospital typically reserves all elective induction patients for overnight labor, so they took forever to call me in and I was so ready to be done lol. Your hospital may be different though! Let me know if you have any other questions!
