Egg Donor Stories?

Does anyone going the egg donor route feel comfortable either DMing me or commenting here about their experiences? I’m likely heading in that direction and want to better understand how it works, things to consider beforehand, tips, etc.

We used donor eggs, feel free to dm me

@Christin sent you a DM!

I follow a lady on Instagram who has used doner eggs. She is now 34 weeks but she has documented her journey and a lot of the emotions she has been feeling along the way. She would also probably respond if you messaged her. https://www.instagram.com/vicky_infertility_ivf?igsh=MWl2enhqc2x6Mmpiag==

@Danielle thank you!

Before you go down the path of any donor conception I highly advise you to follow Laura High, a national advocate for donor conceived people. Or just read up on donor conceived advocacy in general, but her content is really accessible. She talks a lot about how donor conceived children feel and how we can make the process more focused on the resulting child and ensure that child has access to important medical and emotional information growing up. A known donor is always a safer option.

@Tabitha appreciate this, thanks! I’ve joined a few donor groups and purchased some books to read up on. A big takeaway from families I’ve spoken with is exactly what you said: known donors are more ideal for the child but ultimately harder to come by. Seems like the system protects donors and anonymity is encouraged so donors continue donating but it’s ultimately not in the child’s best interest to never know the donor. Very nuanced!
