Induction

Has anyone been induced, and not need/wated epidura? If so why or why not? I am supposed to be induced this Friday. I really didn’t want to go that route, but if I don’t then I risk being taken out of midwife care, and I really don’t want that either. 🫤

I’m 40 weeks Monday and I didn’t know you could be taken out of midwife care . I’ll definitely be checking in with that at Mondays app. If I had to be induced I would try the membrane sweep first rather than straight to the hormone drip and I am avoiding epidural because I don’t want problems with my back in the future as I already have some and I also hate the idea of not being able to walk around or eat whatever I want or the catheter part… but I’ve never had a baby before and hopefully I stand firm on what I want for myself and baby

I went in for my 40w appointment and asked for a membrane sweep, but I was told my cervix was not open so it couldn’t be performed. I have had back surgery, and don’t care for more back problems along with being confined to a bed, and needing to eat! 😆

I was induced and had planned to use gas, but everything moved so fast and got so intense that I ended up asking for the epidural before they even got the nitrous to me. My contractions went from bearable to feeling like every bone in my body was breaking extremely fast, and the pain was causing me to repeatedly vomit. I will say I was not induced with pitocin though. I had that with my first and it was awful and labor took much longer.

Pitocin contractions hurt a lot more and i originally planned no epidural also because of back pain issues but they went from bearable to not real quick for me. Epidural actually helped speed up labor for me. I got it when i was about 5cm dilated and once i took that nap, i went from 5-7 in an hour and then 7-10 and ready to push in 38 minutes . So it all depends on your own pain tolerance.. being in more pain than you can handle and being tense will slow down labor.

Got induced but came in already contracting so came in at 11pm had my boy at 1pm exactly
