It's usually only if the milk has been exposed to air for too long it starts to sour, you can only collect for about 4 hours but I went through it for about a week recently where id sterilise everything and it still didn't smell right so I left it all to soak for a couple hours, washed and sterilised and then used alcohol wipes and it helped x
@Caitlin I check and empty my cups throughout the day should I clean them after every empty? Plus I leak mostly in the night so I wear them at night 90% of the time and empty through the night but don’t wash as it’s just easier and faster to shove them back in and go back sleep once baby is down if you get me 😅
Your lipase could be high . Also it is very normal for you to pick on a smell which many don't. It can also be that it turns easily as your warm.
I'd probably say just rinse them everytime you empty them under the hot tap to get rid of any left over milk don't have to wash wash them after every use but just make sure there's no milk in it that could go bad cause it can effect it or if you don't want to get out of bed keep some alcohol wipes next to the bed and just wipe them down quickly
It's the milk that leaks and after 4 h of not being in your boobs anymore it goes sour. Probably your catchers aren't catching all of the leaks or not as much as you thought. It will get better with leaks at least a little bit. I still leak from the right boob after nearly 11 months but only when I feed with the left boob so at least I know it's going to happen. I remember milky bedsheets for the first few months 🙈
This happened to me too but I think it was just milk collecting in the breast pads. Once I stopped leaking so much the smell went away
