Wow! Am really glad I saw this post! With my first little girl we moved the Moses basket up and downstairs, we thought about getting a snooze pod this time round as they seem so lovely but after reading the comments that they aren’t recommended I think I’ll just stick to the Moses basket now x
I got 2 moses baskets so I don't have to keep bring it up and down stairs
The purflo nest just uses clever marketing. They said they're safe for sleep but still go against lullaby trust guidance on safe sleep
No baby nest is safe for sleep. They all say in the small print to only be used under direct supervision which is how they get away with selling them. I am yet to meet a parent who has 100% of the time supervised their child in one! Don’t bother with the nest just go for a Moses basked or travel cot
I'm not doing either for downstairs. I plan on using the pram carrycot. We have a next to me cot for next to the bed and a cotbed for 6m+ so I felt like there was no need to get a moses basket for downstairs when we have the pram carrycot
I wanted to go for the nest, but also have been warned by experienced mums about it being unsafe to leave baby on it alone. The sides are squishy which can be a suffocation hazard. Moses basket is stiff and the woven parts are breathable even so. Nests are so darn cute but I'm trying to not spent so much so I decided to get the moses basket instead!
@Amy I did this with my first. Just one thing I looked at in case you did not think of it. Most pram carrycots are not certified for unsupervised safe sleep. Few of them are. I made sure mine was when I bought the pram as I had the same idea as you. It does not mean they are not safe, it's just that most brands do not test them/have been approved.
I'd go Moses basket. The general consensus on the nests are unless you are sat watching them they are not safe. We have a Moses basket for downstairs, a snuzpod4 for next to our bed. I wouldn't feel comfortable using a nest but I know people who have successfully used them.
We were going to get a nest as we liked the look and idea of them, but have been advised against them by every body professional. You need to supervise baby in them at all times, they don’t even recommend you go to the loo with them in it alone. Which I feel worries me and then defeats the point of having it. So we’ve gone for a snuzbasket (Moses basket but slightly bigger) it’s super light, is a safe place for baby to sleep and will be able to potter about downstairs with him in it whilst checking on him but not needing to stay there the whole time. Everyone makes their own judgment and personal choice, I do love the idea of a nest but the safety thing worries me a little. I wouldn’t say you need both though, but whatever you feel comfortable with xx
