First plane ride with newborn.. HELP

Okay so I plan to travel with my newborn by plane for the first time. He will be 3 months by then, what do I need? I've flown several times before but not with a baby. The plane ride is an hour and 20 min.

Make sure you protect his ears with the baby noise canceling headphones.

An hour and 20 minutes is super short so that’s good. If you’re a breast feeding mama a cover up blanket to breastfeed and boppy pillow is what I like to bring. My kids also go to sleep to sound machine so if you have a portable one that’s always good to have to drown out noise and the basic essentials diapers wipes etc. if your bringing your stroller and car seat you can check that free at the gate and will be planeside when you get off. If you’re taking a car seat on board and purchase the baby a ticket and won’t be riding as a lap infant make sure you have the airplane approve car seat it will be written on side of it if it is. If it’s easier for you to not have your stroller and car seat and prefer to just use your baby carrier to walk through security and gate you can check your stroller car seat at ticket counter instead of going through with it & you should be good to go. #MamaWhoWorksForAirlineAdvice

Oh and also forgot to add make sure baby is sucking on boob, bottle or pacifier at plane take off into air to avoid ear irritation they tend to get cranky when ears pop. Hope this helps. 🫶

If you’re traveling with another adult have them board first with all the stuff. You stay with baby and board last- less time on the plane & they won’t be exposed to the stress of everyone stowing their carry on, etc. feed baby during takeout to help with ear popping. Landing too if possible. Or a binkey if you can’t feed. Double check but you should be able to use the stroller up until you board the plane & then they’ll check it (make sure a luggage tag with your name & info is on it). Depending upon your tickets/seats- you can strap a car seat into baby’s seat. If you don’t have that as an option you should def bring a carrier since you’ll be holding them the whole time. It could help with walking the aisle if baby gets fussy. Take their favorite toys out of rotation before the trip & then let them play with it while on the plane. They’ll be excited to have it back and hopefully it keeps them focused/quiet. Don’t stress if baby cries, it’s not even 2 hour so the other passengers

Definitely going to stress what the others have already mentioned is to have a pacifier or nursing when taking off and landing to help their ears pop. I think this is probably the most important thing. Aside from the normal diaper bag items, I brought my own disposable changing pad covers because airports sometimes don't restock theirs and I don't want her directly on a changing table. At three months honestly they will probably sleep the entire time since it's such a short plane ride. Mine falls asleep pretty quickly because of the white noise from the plane and getting to nurse during takeoff. Have fun on your trip and don't stress too much. They do surprisingly well.

@Kee you’re a lifesaver. Thank you for your expertise 😊

Thank you all sooo much, I did not know I was supposed to nurse to help with the popping of his ears.

Don’t worry bout the headphones because they will NOT keep it on. I flew at 3 months too and all I did was breast feed while taking off so they suck while the ears are popping and landing, if you don’t breastfeed that’s okay, make sure they are sucking on a bottle eating landing and taking off. Just try to time it right, that way they eat and take a nap while flying. My flight was 2 hours and that’s exactly what I did and she slept the whole way on both trips.

Sorry to repeat what others say but it WORKS! ❤️❤️
