How to tell if milk has/is coming in

I was just wondering if these are signs my milk is coming in my baby is two days old today and my boobs have started to feel very sensitive and full (not my nipples my actual breast) they also feel fuller and heavier. On a side note I’ve been so so emotional I’ve been crying over anything and everything 😂 my colostrum has started to thin out aswell as in it’s not as thick it comes out a lot faster when hand expressing. Ik these are signs of my milk coming in but also at the same time my boobs have been sore since he was born as he’s exclusively breastfeeding.

My boobs felt rock solid and was painful when my milk came in! They grew double in size too!

This is exactly what happened to me and my milk came in the next day xx

Yes this definitely sounds like your milk is coming in. Mine came in on day 3 and my boobs were so heavy and full and felt like they had tripled in size 😅 they felt sore because of the fullness. I had to express in the early days due to latch troubles so one of the other signs I noticed was the colour changing. You will also notice baby’s poo changing.

I had the exact same experience. In a few days your breast should start to feel less full and adjust to your baby's schedule. Our bodies are amazing! If it becomes painful, I suggest pumping for 2-3 minutes, just to alleviate the engorgement and not increase the milk supply. Otherwise it continues to be a problem as the more you pump, the more you start producing. Regarding being emotional, it is absolutely normal. I feel like I cried a lot during the first 2 weeks post-partum 😅 It gets better, I promise! Be gentle with yourself. You are doing great!!

My boobs were so engorged when my milk came in I couldn’t sleep and when I did get to sleep I woke up and would be soaked from leaking. That was day 3. I thought I had mastitis. After he managed to eventually feed from my boobs (I had to go in the shower and just let the milk/colostrum fall out to get some relief) they went down and now it’s white milk instead of a golden/off white colour. He’s now 3 weeks + 3 days and we formula and breast feed.

It’ll happen soon, keep feeding baby and trust your body. My boobs when rock hard like literal rocks. Sooo bizarre!
