Back to sleep

My LO is 19 weeks. As a NB he could sleep through the night. Now he wakes after 4 hours or two. He does not go back to sleep well. He cries and either needs to be fed, rocked, shushed, pacifier etc. More and more he needs to be fed and will fall asleep on the breastfeeding pillow and then if we can’t make the transfer he will wake. What can be done to help him self sooth without the need to feed or be extra involved.

All NB sleep very well the first weeks cuz they are exhausted. Theres a lot of neurological growth the first weeks so usually sleep is not an issue. As they grow and become more awared they also become more dependent ( they become familiar with rocking/breastfeeding to sleep and so on). It does get better as they grow but having a consistent routine, watching their wake windows and promoting full feedings vs snacking is key for longer stretches at night. Once you find the sweet spot , when your baby is tired but not overtired and ready for bed, thats the moment you put him in their bassinet and with consistency baby will self sooth. If he cries, you go comfort and do it again and again and again. I know it sounds exhausting but couple days using thus consistency, attending to their cues and im sure it will get better. Good luck mama!
