Child Maintenance

I just had a question regarding child maintenance I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant and my ex left me very early into my pregnancy and he isn't bothering with me or the baby. He doesn't want to be involved and doesn't want to be at the birth dispite me tryinh my best to involve him and for him to be apart of his child life he just isn't interested and often snaps or shouts at me telling me to stop pushing him to be involved. We have been no contact now for nearly 3 months. Due to this I have decided not to put him on the birth certificate as I gave him so many chances all throughout most of my pregnancy and he's just not interested and also he would just straight up refuse to go on it anyway as he's said in the past. My question is if he isn't going to be on the birth certificate will I still be able to go through child maintenance and get child support from him I have heard things like I can't claim off him if he's not on the birth certificate. I just don't know what to do at this point if I can't I can't and I'll have to manage however I feel it's unfair for him to just walk away from his responsibility and leave me to do everything without even paying for anything towards his child. Thank you in advance

No his name doesn’t need to be on the birth certificate to claim child maintenance. In fact if he disagrees or even denies he’s the father, he’ll need to do a DNA test to prove it to the child maintenance service x

@Shay 🤍 thank you x

I think it's a US thing when they have to be on the birth certificate - As above, in the uk it's not necessary x
