Active sleep with whimpering and crying

Does anyone else’s baby have active sleep towards the end of their sleep window with whimpering and crying? I know I’m not supposed to go to him until he actually wakes up. Our pediatrician says never wake a sleeping baby. It’s not like big crying it’s little quick quieter fits of crying and wimpering and he falls asleep in between them. It just breaks my heart to listen to him upset. It’s also impossible to keep sleeping through it.

Mine does 🥺 I just shhh him and tell him that Mummy is here x

It’s so loudddddd but mine isn’t sad cries, it’s like grunting and pterodactyl screeches and wakes me up every time lol

Yesss it’s totally normal. Remind yourself he’s not upset he’s just a healthy baby sleeping deeply and that’s a great thing! If you wake him you’ll disrupt his sleep cycle, which is what helps him be a happy baby when he wakes up next day. I transitioned our baby to sleep in the next room because us moms are super sensitive to every one of their noises but we also need uninterrupted sleep to be happy moms with our baby’s. Love to you ❤️❤️ GL!

My baby does this my husband and I call her our little zombie 😆

@Jamie Metzger how old was your baby when they went in their own room? Also thanks for the screenshot, super helpful! I have the most trouble between 3-6am I never feel like she has settled into a deep sleep because she’s always grunting and trying to break out of her swaddle

@Jess we moved her into the nursery at 4 weeks. Glad the screenshot helped! 3-6am is definitely when my baby makes the most noises. @Vanessa we call her our little gremlin LOL

I should credit @ babysleepcode on instagram for this newborn sleep guide. Highly recommend!

@Jamie Metzger lol love it haha

@Jamie Metzger I just noticed this! Dream feed and put her back down at 5am, went and put the toddler back down (he always hears her and gets up now 🤦🏼‍♀️) and came back at 6am. I tried to sleep a little more but that baby was grunting and whining so loud I gave up. But now that I left the room she hasn’t moved or made a sound 😂 she’s in there like a little angel! Mama needs to sleep

Also to add to this convo, what kind of swaddle are y’all using? Mine seemed to be fine with a traditional swaddle in the first few weeks but now that she’s bigger (7 weeks) she is violently trying to break out of it all night, thinking of changing to the kind where she has her arms in the air

@Jess same! We started using the happiest baby swaddle that’s Velcro and zipper
