Tandem feeding

My eldest is 18 months and my 2nd is due in Jan. The plan was to stop breastfeeding my eldest before new baby, and we are now only breastfeeding once every 3-4 days. Next week I was planning to do it one last time, and then my husband and I are away for a wedding for 2 nights, so thought it would be a good opportunity to stop. Thing is, I know my eldest still really likes bf, and would have it more if I let her. I'm just nervous about the dynamic feeding 2. I want new baby to get the priority, I don't want my eldest to get really jealous and demand it more when she sees new baby bf, and the thought of 2 children dependent on me to a certain extent is a bit overwhelming. Would welcome people's experience and advice with tandem feeding. Thank you

Totally up to you. My first ended up loving her bottle of milk just as much as breastfeeding once I fully weaned her at 12 months. I discovered I was pregnant when my first was 9 months old. Personally, my energy rapidly increased, my hair stopped falling out, and I was able to start gaining weight finally. She’s never wanted to breastfeed when I breastfeed my 2nd and thank goodness for that because the transition to having a new baby in the house has been hard enough on my first. Tons of tantrums, huge sleep regression, and we had to start potty training. Now my 2nd is almost 5 months old and my first has fully adjusted and she’s wonderful and loving to her sister. But it took a lot of time and patience and love.

My eldest is 20 months and I also have a 5 week old. I am tandem feeding. It’s really good for bonding for your toddler & mine tends to only have it for 5 mins and then happily goes back off to play! It’s entirely up to you! I quite enjoy the cuddles with both my babies that comes with tandem feeding 🥰

My eldest is 20 months and continued to bf for a few weeks after my youngest arrived and then happily self-weaned! I was intending to continue tandem feeding but my little girl was ready to let her brother have his turn ☺️
