Cervical recoil?

Last night after a few hours of steady contractions getting more severe and closer together, along with extreme pelvic pressure and a lower back pain that was so intense that it was making my legs buckle and almost give out, we went to L&D assuming it was baby time. When I had my cervical check, I was told that I was only 4, maybe 5cm dilated and that my contractions were still too far apart. However, at my check up last week, my doctor had told me that I was already 6cm dilated. I am so confused by this. I was told that I could have been measured incorrectly by either the doctor at my check up or the L&D nurse last night, or that it could be cervical recoil which means that for some unknown reason, my cervix decided it was going to start closing back up instead of progressing. Has anyone else experienced this?

I did and I ended up having to get a C-section. I had gotten all the way to 9 cm but I was already in labor for over 24 hours with my water broken for 24 hours as well 😕

I haven’t heard of cervical recoil but during my induction, each person who checked me had a different number for dilation. It’s best to have the same person check every time if you can.
