Husband severely depressed

My husband is very depressed. He is out on medical because he has epilepsy and cannot work right now. We have a 9 week old and his medicine is very well controlled so I don't worry about him taking care of the baby but his depression manifests into watching tv all day, sometimes can become very angry and sad, and it's so hard to keep up with his emotions and a baby. I'm so sad for him. Antidepressants don't work bc of his meds. He is going to therapy but lately it's so darn hard!

Awe, I'm sorry you two are going through this. You guys should try going to church. He can help fill that hole, mend all wounds 🫶🏻 God bless your family

I'm so sorry to hear that. I had epilepsy when I was 13, and it was well-controlled until my babies were one month old when I experienced my first seizure in years. It’s not easy, and I often ask why. Theres a feeling of helplessness that comes with it. But as @Sasha mentioned, try going to a church. what made my days much lighter and better was the certainty that God was with me, and He still is. We are not exempt from experiencing difficult days, but knowing we are not alone brings a sense of peace. I hope your husband finds that peace. He should definitely continue with his therapy, but I encourage you to help him find comfort in God as well. ❤️

If you can convince him to, try getting him to go on walks if that’s safe for him. I’ve been on medical leave before and got super depressed. As soon as I got myself outdoors I felt a lot better. We need sunshine. Even sitting by a sunny window first thing in the morning can help.
