Sick baby anxiety through the roof

Baby girl started with a runny nose yesterday and woke up with a temp this morning. I’ve given a dose of calpol which has helped with temp and she is still relatively smiley but is crying alot more than usual. The big problem however is me, I have a terrible terrible fear of her catching RSV I have done since before she was born and now with the season upon us my anxiety is getting uncontrollable. Not sure the point of the post? Maybe just some reassurance ;(

It can be really scary when they’re poorly. My little girl has caught her brothers cold and is having coughing fits which are horrible to watch. In terms of RSV what I will say is that a lot of babies deal with the virus like any other cold and it doesn’t always lead to bronchiolitis and even if it does, that in itself does necessarily mean baby will need to be in hospital. Have a look online about what symptoms to look out for i.e ribs sucking in when breathing and give Calpol/Nurofen when needed. I think there has been a lot of awareness around RSV recently which is a good thing, but it’s important to know that most infections in babies will be totally fine and not require any medical intervention x

@Stephanie thank you so much for taking the time out to comment and reassure me. You’re right, but unfortunately social media does a fantastic job at scaremongering and showing the worst of the worst

Oh yeah 100%! It’s good to be aware too. X
