Antidepressants in pregnancy

I've never had depression but I have developed it in my pregnancy. I've tried all the usual things, fitness, healthy eating, yoga, meditation but it doesn't help, I'm considering asking the Dr for antidepressants as I'm concerned about the stress on the baby. Has anyone had experience of taking antidepressants through pregnancy?

Hiya it’s definitely an option but I would talk to the dr first. You might be able to self refer for C-CBT which was an option given to me. I was on them but stopped as I wasn’t sure on some of the side effects. But you have to look at the pros and cons

Ive been on medication for my anxiety and depression for 15 years. They didn't seem to concerned with it when I was pregnant with both my children. They are absolutely fine. One is 5 yrs and the other just turned one

I was on antidepressants prior to being pregnant and I’ve just increased the dose, the consultant I spoke to was adamant the baby would be ok, he also advised reflexology and time off work, both of which are helping.

Been on meds, therapy, yoga healthy diet and everything else for many years. I had a reduced dose until two weeks ago, I'm 16 weeks now and back on 75mg. Happy mummy happy baby they say, I'm so glad I got back on them and yes baby might be withdrawing when they're born if I am unable to breastfeed, but that's something I can seek out help for. Look after yourself lovely, baby will be grateful for it. You got this xx

Definitely speak to your doctor love! I had to stop mine when I became pregnant but it’s different for everyone depending on the medication I guess xx

I’ve been on sertraline throughout my pregnancy and at quite a high dose. I was worried about this but then after lots of discussions with my midwives, realised that I’m in a better place for my baby with them than without. Feel free to message me if you have any questions x
