Tums can cause kidney stones if taken too often. I just learned this. What helps me is to take famotidine 20ish minutes before I eat. I believe it's the same ingredient that is in pepcid and it is what my midwives recommend with my son. Hope this helps!
@Brianne yes! I’ve heard this too. I never took more than 3 a day. But at night it’s so bad so I need to switch so something better. Thank you 😊
@Grace TY! Did you take 1 or 2 a day?
I've been taking pepcid complete, I definitely suggest it because Tums stopped helping my heartburn months ago and it's the only thing that helps
@Ashley i didn't know this and I ate like half a bottle In 12 hours. My bosses were like NOOOOOO please stop lol
@Ashley most of the time I only need one before bed! Sometimes if I'm really struggling still a few hours later I'll take another but one usually does it for me!
@Brianne lol 😂 my friend got kidney stones in her 3rd trimester. It’s no joke!! Nothing they can do either.
@Grace ok thanks!
@Ashley I had gallstone in my last pregnancy it was awful and I hear kidney stones are WAY worse than that even so I won't be eating Tums anymore lol
My OB suggested Nexium for 24 hr relief.
I’ve been taking both since 2nd tri… I don’t have acid reflux all the time- I usually steer with 2-3 tums- if that doesn’t do the trick.. Pepcid a half hour later
I have the worst heartburn and Tums never worked for me. I currently take 10 mg of Pepcid Complete and it usually does the trick. I’m a sucker for spicy food so I take a second one at dinner time if needed
You can take up to 40 Pepcid if you are having a really bad day but usually I take 20
My ob recommended pepcid complete and it's worked well for me
