Pregnancy Acne

Anyone else experiencing pregnancy acne? I’ve been having really painful acne on my neck, chin, and back ever since I got pregnant. I know it’s because hormones, but does anyone have any tips on how to reduce acne?

No, but I’ve started to feel extreme itching, at first it was mostly happening at night I thought it was scabies, took permethrin and all but it didn’t resolve. Now I’m loosing my mind over it day and night!! I’m prepping for my exam and this itching isn’t helping

@bakhtawer omg, I've had the itching start this past week too, it's awful 😭 CeraVe lotion helps. It hasn't gotten bad enough to ask my doc about asking benadryl or using hydrocortisone cream yet, but close!

There are some good reddit threads on -safe skin products for acne. I had accutane treatment between my last pregnancy and this one, but I remember how bad it was not being able to use the stronger products. A visit to a dermatologist if going to be the best option. Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid are generally considered safe in small amounts (consult w/ OB first of course) so a spot treatment with those might help. I think I used a cleanser with azelaic acid before. Acure was the brand of products I used I think. https://www.aad.org/public/diseases/acne/derm-treat/pregnancy

@Audrey I have no idea if it’s scabies or pregnancy related itching which is one the pregnancy symptoms though. But idk it’s too much. Like I’m passionately just itching and doing the laundry for scabies mites to clear. It’s so time consuming I’m so behind for my exam prep :(((( I need prayers :((((

I have this really bad in first trimester with each of my pregnancies, my derm gives me azelaic acid which is expensive AF but safe in pregnancy, i was able to get it a bit cheaper with a GoodRX coupon at the pharmacy

@bakhtawer It's most likely pregnancy pruritus. Do you have any lines that could be signs of burrows under your skin? If it's just bumps and itching, I'd get a dermatologist's opinion before getting obsessed treating my house for something that might not even be a problem. Does anyone else live in your household that is having symptoms?

@Audrey just me. My derm hasnt replied yet so waiting on that. Thanks for the advice though
