Rant about grandparents and shoes!

Sorry for the rant but whyyyyy do people walk around their house in their shoes, shoes they have been wearing outside? It’s always bothered me but bothers me even more now my little girl can crawl around the floor. Her grandparents wear outdoor shoes all around their house and also in our house when they come round. I just don’t understand it. It’s so disgusting and rude. Does anyone else struggle with this? Or does it not bother you? Am I overthinking it 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’ve never had shoes in my house, anyone who comes to the door, including workmen, health care workers etc all get told to remove their shoes. I don’t care cos like you say, it’s disgusting. Dogs poo on the floor and we walk on the same floor, I don’t want those germs festering in my carpet 🤣

@Mama A Exactly! 😂 it’s so disgusting. Maybe I should put that In writing as a poster on my door before they walk in lol

Just tell them to take it off - use the baby as the excuse if you’re worried they’ll push back. It is vile to walk indoors with outside shoes 🤢

No shoes in my house. Anyone who visits i politely tell them to remove shoes. Most people will ask anyway as we are a Muslim household so pray on the floor using a prayer mat so cleanliness is a must! Especially with a crawling baby 👶

It gives me the ick. Absolutely no shoes on when setting foot in our house

We do in our house 😉

I have a doormat that says please remove your shoes and it’s been working wonders x

@Gemma Great idea! x

Wish you didn’t post this 😭 now I have to wipe my car door handles everytime! 😭😭

@Asia Sorry 🙈

Yeah we're a slipper household, even have a few pairs for guests if they want! But no outside shoes past the entryway 👍 I find the older generations are more stuck in their ways with keeping shoes on.

@Asia just be careful as I work in mental health and surfaces (especially after the pandemic) caused so much worry for many. They’re everywhere - ATM, trollies, self serve screens, bus bells, door handles, tube seats. I work in jails also so they’re filthy. Hand hygiene is key and if taking shoes off makes you feel more comfortable - go for it 😉

@Hayley it’s too late for me hon. I wipe everything and clean my hands obsessively - so much so it’s cracking coz of dryness and sanitation 😂 I’m completely sane and mentally good just since pandemic I can’t help it. And im happy this way 😘 when in public I use my elbows to press buttons and use a wipe to pull or push 😅😭 I can’t go back 🥶

@Asia I hear you darl 🩷🩷🩷🩷
