@Amy ahhh okay! Ours doesn't really say much, it's confused me a little bit but I wasn't aware until openly said he had some this morning and then got told about it!
Depends on the policy. The one my son went to you could give him a dose but you had to inform them and if they proceeded to need another etc they would just get sent home
Mine has that policy. And I’ve broken the rules 😬
In my daughter’s nursery, they call us if she spikes a temp that justifies calpol. They’ll only give it her once, I have to message in how much she allowed to have, and after 30 mins if that’s not made a difference I have to collect her. If she was to get another temp in 4 hours time then I would have to collect her as they’re only allowed to give it her once. If I was to send her into nursery having already given her calpol at home then they would just ask that I collect her as they wouldn’t be allowed to give her any.
Ours is if they’ve had calpol before arrival, let them know how much and when so they know when the safe next dose would be. But they would also call first to ask if they can administer later in the day, so in teething cases you know how much they had xx
If your child has Calpol before nursery they are not well enough to go, in most circumstances. Most nursery’s not all will only give if it is prescribed.
My daughters nursery just ask that we’re honest and say if she’s had some before drop off, and they won’t administer themselves but will call and I can go in and give it her myself if they think she’s well enough to stay but could use some.
I work in a nursery and the only thing we will turn a child away with is if they’ve not been clear of sickness/diarrhoea for 48 hours. Obviously if they’ve been given calpol we’d want to know so we could keep an eye on them but we can’t give calpol so if they weren’t right later on we’d call for you to collect them
Our nursery ask us not to send children if they’ve had calpol in the morning because if they need calpol to get through the day they shouldn’t really be at nursery… they will also give calpol to a child who needs it and let you know how ill they are and if they need to be collected early
I’m nursery teacher and have never heard of this and I’ve been a nursery teacher for 10 years. We would only turn away a child if they have the pox, or sickness/dihorea. We can also give calpol in nursery as long as a medicine form is filled out xx
Ours won't take them if they've had Calpol. I once gave him it for his teeth as teething powders didn't seem to be doing the trick that night and didn't realise. When I told them he had Calpol they said he shouldn't be there - but it had passed the 4 hours so they let him in just that day
Mine says the latest you can give it is at 4am that morning 🤷🏻♀️ I think most parents break the calpol/neurofen rule tbh
