Postpartum anxiety

My baby is almost 2 weeks and I have had really bad anxiety since his was born. When he cries I’m being sick and when he’s quiet I’m thinking about what could go wrong. Is this normal at this stage or should I speak to my GP?

I would contact your GP or health visitor.

I think it’s completely normal to have worries - I feel the same and panic about everything! Your hormones are all over the place, you’re tired, you’re learning how to look after a brand new baby (and baby’s are really unreasonable!!!), but it is absolutely important you look after yourself too. Speak to your health visitor about having a chat with the perinatal mental health team - they are absolutely brilliant 🤍

I’ve been exactly the same, my baby girl is just over a month old now and slowly it does get better, i’m an anxious person as it is before my baby so pregnancy and motherhood has ramped it up x1000, i found speaking to my health visitor really helped x

I’ve been the same as well, my little boy is 2 weeks tomorrow (first child), I’ve had every emotion these last two weeks, so I decided I’d join this app, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one going through it. I would also advise speaking to your health visitor, mines visiting today so will be doing the same x

I know this is a common saying but it does get easier, I’m on week 4 now and find my anxiety is settling! You find your learning what your baby needs and wants don’t get me wrong Il have days (eps no sleep lol) that il find myself worrying and panicking but if you can ask family or friends to take baby for an hour that you trust really well so you won’t be worrying to take baby for an hour so your mind can settle and recharge! Speak to your health visitor too xx

Thank you so much everyone! I spoke to my health visitor and she made me a GP appointment within the hour x
