Rolled oats porridge

How do you make porridge with rolled oats for your little one? Mines 6 months. Do you grind the oats finer?

I grind mine but normal oats are okay too!

I used to grind mine and keep in a tub as she preferred it a bit smoother

I blitz them in the blender for a few seconds. I don't make it completely smooth but it isn't like adult porridge if that makes sense

Not necessarily what you asked - but we switched to using ready brek or similar supermarket brand of fine oatmeal because it’s fortified with extra vitamins - especially iron

Just cook as is 🤷

We never did anything to the oats - just heated them up as they come with whole milk! But you can grind them if you want to 😊 apple and cinnamon porridge is still one of our LO's faaaaavs 😍

We use flahavans organic porridge oats. I did grind initially for about a week, then started giving as is, I do an overnight oats where I soak in whole milk with some crushed nuts and chia seeds.

I soak mine in boiling water to cook the oats and then blitz it to the consistency I want

I do the same as @Ginn Soak overnight with chia seeds, maths just warm up before serving

I never did anything to the oats. My LO loves them. Our go to breakfast is oats cooked with mashed banana, nut butter (once you introduce it as an allergen), wheat bran (again once already introduced as allergen), some sort of nutritional boost (think chia seeds, flax meal, or hemp hearts), and then a mashed or cooked down fruit (this week it was fig).

Just cook it as it is in her formula milk.

I used to blend them but I ended up giving her normal rolled oats with some yogurt and added some sort of puree

@Charlotte Seconding this! My son's dietician even asked us to do this, it's such a good way to get iron in.
