Walking

Anyone else having this (not really an) issue? My almost 15mo old will cruuuuuise along tables, couches and will hold our finger and walk, but as soon as she lets go she stands for a little bit says “yaaayyy” claps then plops her booty back down and proceeds to crawl. My dad jokes that she’s “just being lazy” but I’m wondering how I can get her confidence really going so she can proceed on her own? She’s around my niece and nephew ALOT so she sees them walking and running around and will try to walk holding onto my niece. Ps. I nanny an 11 month old who is already trying to walk and it kinda made me sad she’s not walking yet

Our first girl was the same way, and then one day she just let go!

We’ve been going through this as well. I found him a pair of shoes that he likes and we went around running errands and I grabbed his hand and walked with him around the store. Sometimes I even let go and he was walking by himself! He has been sooo uninterested in walking but after I did that a couple days ago he is taking longer strides in the house by himself!

My son walks big time but doesn't clap and doesn't say any words. They all have their "domains", they'll get there.

Yep! My first talked then walked , this babe is opposite

My son is completely uninterested in walking on carpet but will try walking in our bed and in the bath tub 😐

@Amber yess! The dang bath tub! She tries it every time and I’m like “this is not the place girlfriend” 😂

My son was the same and is the same age. He just now started walking. They go at their own pace. Just have to wait til she is ready. Feels like forever I know but she will get there :)

Here for the tips because I’m in the same boat with my daughter. She does all the same things she even will stand up on her own without using the couch or anything mostly on the bed but she has started doing it on the floor she just won’t take a step

My son was like this! He’s 15 months as well. Have you tried having her hold a toy and walking? He started walking when he was holding his ball with both his hands. Or my mom and my grandma sat facing each other with him in between their legs. My mom had a toy he LOVES and started dangling it in front of him to get him going and that worked too. That’s how he took his first steps actually. But the ball/toy in hands is how he really started walking. He still crawls a lot but gets more adventurous every day!

My son started walking at 11 months, my nephew started walking at 15 months. Although he started later, he was still in the same race. My son didn’t get a prize for starting sooner! Your daughter will walk on her own time 🥰 don’t feel bad! If she isn’t walking by 2, maybe seek intervention but she still has so much time!
