Mum guilt

I wasn’t sure if I was going to share this as the guilt I have every day since absolutely kills me inside. I was making a bottle up in the middle of the night pouring boiling water from a flask into baby’s bottle at the bedside, I must have fallen asleep for a second as I woken up to the realisation I had spilled the boiling water on my daughter. She sadly now has scalds/burns on her chest, arm and leg. Thankfully she’s doing ok and hopefully scarring should be minimal. I guess I’m sharing to raise awareness that we are human and we all get tired and aren’t superhuman. Accidents happen which I get reminded frequently at the hospital when we visit to get her dressings changed. We now have a ban on boiling water in the bedroom and only use ready made formula or breast milk and as a mum I continue to feel horrible about it everyday. So from mum to another mum please ask for help if you need it as it is so hard.

I am so sorry you are feeling this guilt. It's not your fault, accidents happen and you still have your daughter and this won't affect her life in the long term. Thank you for sharing. I am sending love and hugs and kisses to your baby from here.

So sorry to hear this. Please don’t feel guilty it was a total accident and so easy to happen when sleep deprived. You are a fab mum who loves her daughter and that’s all that matters xx Sending love to you and little one hope she heals well and soon xx

Hey love I know many people fault the tommee tippee night prep machine but it has been a God send for me - I keep mine in my bedroom and it makes a bottle so quickly and baby has been fine on it (2 months now) 🫣
