@Charley thank you for that website. Yeah as long as the oral antibiotics were safe to take with breastfeeding I’d happily take them but I was just concerned with applying cream to the scar as it isn’t fully healed yet. It’s really bad of the doctors, they wouldn’t even have a telephone consultation with me just a online portal for me to put in my symptoms and they send a prescription to the pharmacy based on that.
@Sophie I had something similar but I went to the maternity triage where they checked my scar over and said it was infected by the nurses. But then they advised me to see if the drs had an appointment that day rather than waiting round in triage all day to see their drs as I had my newborn premie with me. So rang my drs to say the hospital have said it’s infected but I need to come to your guys for my treatment and got sorted that way. I was given just tablets to get it sorted and they said if not improvement in a week they would need to send a sample off but it cleared up. I would definitely ring up the drs again Xx
I was given cream when mine got infected but I couldn’t use it as I was allergic but mine seemed to heal by its self x

Thanks all.. I was seen by the nurse today and she said there’s absolutely no sign of infection and the scar has healed really nicely just need to actually start cleaning the scar properly and making sure it’s dry after.. so doctor prescribing antibiotics and cream for no infection🙈
A wound infection doesn't need medical attention? That's appalling behaviour from your GP practice. I would use the antibiotics if there is a very strong smell as it a pretty clear sign of infection. Anything medication and breastfeeding related I head straight to this website, it's an invaluable resource https://www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/factsheet/antibiotics/
