umbilical hernia?

Has anyone else’s babies got an umbilical hernia? We’ve been told it’s fairly common in babies and will go on its own but of course it looks a bit worrying! Has anyone else had experience of this and how long on average did it take to go down? Our babies is rather large! Thank you

Yes my LG has one too! She’s 10 weeks old now, I think it’s maybe gotten slightly smaller but definitely still here. I’m not worried as I know it’s common and should resolve itself x

My little girl has one. They said to just keep an eye on it and it should resolve itself. The health visitor thought it was getting bigger but I don't think it is. Her dad had one when he was born and his was corrected with surgery

My first child’s hernia went big and was much smaller about 6 months later

One of my twins does. Most go down by 1 year old but even if it hasn’t most surgeons won’t do anything until at least 3 as the few that haven’t gone by 1 stand a good chance of going by then It tends to be when they start sitting that they go as the muscles get stronger

My little girl has one, she’s nearly 10 weeks, the doctor at the 8 week check said it’s common but to go back if it’s still there at 6 months and start the process of being referred to have surgery to fix it once shes 1!

My 7 week old girl has one. Never knew anything about them or how common they were until now, I was worried at first. The doctor also advised that they usually resolve with in a year and if not a surgery can be done x
