I would try other things first before steroid cream, I have eczema and steroid cream wrecked my skin. You need to make sure you pat the area dry, it will flare up in any sweaty areas so you need to keep them dry where you can. Liquid talc can help with that. I still get really bad eczema in that area and I tend to liquid talc it and not wear anything on my nether regions. That said a nappy will be on and is kind of counterproductive but essential (if they’re still in nappies). So just change nappies regularly, clean and dry after each nappy and don’t use any harsh chemicals.
If u BF breast milk & organic oats in the bath … there is also a lot of info online linking eczema to the gut - you can get probiotic drops for baby too
Hello! I have had severe eczema my entire life. My father literally tried everything home remedies, creams, lotions, non scented everything. Nothing seemed to help except a steroid ointment the reasoning for the ointment and not a cream is the creams tend have more water and as you know water dries out your skin and an ointment is because it has some oils and your skin sucks it right up. Now for baby you could try steroid cream as it might be more gentle for the skin but I would continue to use the coconut oil, as well body wash and lotion for sensitive skin. My doctor always recommended Cetaphil but I've personally always been a fan of Dove or Aveeno. I know Aveeno specifically has body wash and lotion for people with eczema. I wouldn't use a laundry detergent that has any perfumes I would use like Tide free and clear or All
Have you tried aquaphor? Because that’s my best friend. Whether it’s eczema or diaper rash or any type of inflammation on the skin, I use that. And let me tell you it knocks it right on out I’ve never had an issue with it. Idk if it will help your child but, try it out and see if it can 🤷🏾♀️
I use vitamin e cream from the body shop on my dermatitis and eczema and it keeps it under control over every other cream I’ve been prescribed. You can get day and night cream and it moisturises as well
It depends how bad it is and if you’re using steroid cream for a short time ( like a week, or a few days with many days a part) it should be okay. Also make sure his underwear are cotton.
