Post partum sex

I waited my six weeks to have sex and my doctor cleared me to have sex. But I am super sore afterwards. Is this normal?

I was soo sore yesterday I had to stop I’m 6 weeks postpartum too

I’ve heard that’s very normal!!

I tried to have sex at 6 weeks 2 days, used a lot of lube but it was too painful had to stop before even getting it in

Oh no! I’m six weeks but just has the depo shot so waiting one more week but I’m nervous!!

@Barira wild did you do c section or vaginal delivery

All the 6 weeks clearance means is that you’re no longer prone to infection. They really need to stop clearing sex at 6 weeks and encourage women to focus more on their recovery.

@Valerie vaginal

I'm not planning to have sex for atleast4-6 months 😅😅 you're brave

@Amanda Brown, it really depends on the person. Some people are ready earlier.

@Ashley that’s my point. 6 weeks is not a 1 size fits all thing. Most women don’t want to have sex yet at that point in general, but are told they’re cleared for it. Why is sex even a topic of conversation so soon after having a baby? It gives our partners who have been waiting for a while the impression that we should be ready for sex bc we are “cleared for it”. Like why is it common knowledge that at 6 weeks you’re cleared, but the hormonal aspect of pregnancy and post partum is so rarely discussed to the point that men don’t understand why a women wouldn’t want to have sex in that time frame, and women are confused as to why they aren’t in the mood and feeling like they should be jumping on their partners sexual urges right at 6 weeks? I just think health care needs to do better for the moms.
