Groups B strep
I had group B strep with my first born but wasn't checked for it until I was in labour which turned into sepsis for myself and my LB.
Looking at my options, as I've had the diagnosis again that have group B strep with my current pregnancy.
I'm currently 20 weeks and 5 days so it has been caught early and they have talked me through the whole process of going into labour to go straight to the hospital and I will be having antibiotics every 4 hours as soon as I get there.
Would I be allowed to go for an elected c section earlier than my due date due to the past trauma of what happened with my LB? Or is there any suggestions as to prevent the B strep from not effecting the baby as much?
Any help appreciated.
I’ve had group b strep in both my pregnancies and had elective c sections both times, you don’t need a medical reason for an elective c section so you can have one if you want one, they do them in the 39th week so will be before your due date as well In terms of suggestions, there’s nothing you can do to but getting the antibiotics going when you go into labour protects you and really lowers the transmission risk to baby, it’s really safe to have a natural birth with group b strep as long as you have the antibiotics Xx
