BF and exercise

Does exercise affect supply? I’m looking to start after my 6 week check up with my OB but I’m already an under supplier and I don’t want to completely tank it. Any tips would be great thank you!!

Hi! Pre/postnatal fitness trainer here 👋. Exercise can affect your supply b but it's different for everyone. Mostly it's important to make sure you're getting enough fluids and nutrient dense foods!

I’m 17mo pp and still nursing and have been lifting weights (heavy) consistently since I got cleared 6 weeks pp. I eat oats and egg whites every morning and drink a gallon of water a day. Also continue with prenatal vitamins.

I started running again 3 weeks PP and I had an insane over supply. Started training for half marathons again a couple months Pp and never had any impact on my supply

Eat eat eat! And lots of water. I I mix coconut water into my water and I find that that helps my supply a ton 👏🏼

This was my question when I was newly postpartum. It does affect supply. I actually started getting more into my fitness at 12 months PP and I’m still nursing but early on I was worried because I didn’t want to tank my supply. Definitely eat lots of healthy good fats and drink lots of water.

It can. I started working out as soon as I was cleared and my supply dipped when I tried to go into a calorie deficit to lose weight. I bumped my calories back up, I still lost ~30lbs overall and I’ve been able to recover my supply by consistent pumping, eating enough and staying hydrated!

Exercise never affected my milk supply. I’m currently nursing my fifth child.
