Mine used to be inverted and we’ve never had a problem, baby’s latch is enough to pull them out and for me they’ve stayed out ever since (22months). They go back to being quite flat after nursing but it doesn’t affect her latch for the next feed
Thank you both, thats so reassuring! Did either of you collect colostrum before baby was born, was that also fine?
I didn't collect before birth but that was because I didn't have much support or knowledge and was unaware that you could collect before birth. I did hand express at the hospital though because my daughter had to sit under a warmer for the first 6 hours and had no issues!
Also worried about this before I had my LG. I have one inverted nipple that then went flat. My LG was quite small when she was born and her latch wasn’t great, apart from at night in the first few weeks when she couldn’t latch on the flat side, she still got the hang of it. I EBF still and my nipples now pretty much match 6 months on. You can use a Hakka to evert the nipple before baby latches if they are struggling to latch but most babies have such a strong suck they do it themselves.
Thank you Katie! Honestly these experiences have reassured me so much. One of the midwife assistants told me I probably wouldn't be able to/ would really struggle xx
I've had one inverted my entire life and it stayed that way throughout pregnancy. My daughter is EBF and now 6 months old with no issues (besides her being picky about positioning for the first few weeks lol) I have noticed that with breastfeeding my inverted looks a bit more normal now and even more so after nursing (likely the sucking pulling it outward)
