South Lanarkshire mum alone and scared

Hello mums, I'm currently 25 weeks pregnant and feeling overwhelmed. My partner is struggling to connect with the pregnancy and doesn't seem to understand my physical and emotional needs. All he talks about is himself or his mental health. He prioritises himself and mental health over our midwife appointments. He watched me cry and beg so scared. About the gender scan and refused to come. He’s only happy when I’m there talking and supporting him. But where is he when I need him I often find myself feeling alone and afraid of what the future holds as a parent. I would love to hear from other mums who may have experienced similar situations or have any advice to share. Thank you for listening.

Have you spoken to your midwife privately about some therapy?

@Becca my midwife knows the situation. They think I should go to a mum and baby unit for better support but I’m scared because I don’t know anything about the units x

@Arianna Stone I believe you would have to be referred by mental health services, that would probably be best for you to do first and make a decision from there

Your midwife will have your best interests at heart ❤️ Could you ask to visit the unit to see what it’s like before deciding?

Also you could check for groups in your area for new mums. In my area there is one called something like Bumps & Babies for anyone pregnant or with a young baby.
