Back pain

I am only 21 weeks and my back pain is barely tolerable when I’ve been sitting or lying on my back. I asked my doc and she just said ‘that’s not normal’ but didn’t elaborate. Anyone else the same? Any tips except not sit and only lie on my side? (Even in bed when turning from one side to the other and going via the back it’s excruciating. Like an elephant is sitting on me weighing me down)

It isn't really recommended to be on your back anymore for sleeping. So i would try to avoid that if you can. Use pregnancy pillow or pillows to get comfy if needed. You could look into some stretches exercise (yoga type) that are safe to do in pregnancy, that might help. And i also see a chiropractor that I know has experience with pregnancies and that helps too. I do have some exercise in a book of mine, If you want message me and I can share the love 😅

Sitting on those massive balls can help too.

My back is also the same, I’m 24 weeks and in agony by the end of the day.

I'm in the same boat, it's literally excruciating moving side to side in bed and even walking can be painful or crossing your legs, I tend to use a hot water bottle and I've also got a belly band support which can help alleviate some of the weight and pressure on your lower back and pelvic bone but I'm more than happy to receive any other ideas anyone else may have 😊

@Antonia I’m honestly not showing at all so no idea where that weight is sitting but it’s WEIGHING haha

@Claire yes midwife said lying on back is fine while I feel fine though I don’t on purpose but had an ultrasound on my back and she said turn to your side and I almost cried lol need to get a pregnancy massage asap too and sign up for an online yoga class. Still struggling with nausea, used to be so fit and now just don’t want to move but drive a lot which is tough cause I can’t drive lying on my side lol thank you!!

@Leonie ooh are you by any chance having a boy? As I'm having a girl and the bump is bumping haha too heavy and big now 😅

@Antonia haha no it’s a girl 😅 have always had a weak back but used to be a competitive dancer and then did yoga for years so guess my body was used to being fit and flexible and then first trimester hit and I’ve barely gone for a walk in four months now so it’s deteriorated quickly 🤢

@Leonie aww congratulations 🤗 I fell down the stairs quite a few years back and dented my coccyx so I know how it feels to have back pain badly, I've suffered alot during this pregnancy too, I got diagnosed with HG and been hospitalised twice, even at 21/22 weeks I'm still being sick but at least it's not daily atm 😊 hopefully things get easier for us 😊

@Antonia oh no I’m so sorry. I’m still sick too but not daily which has made life manageable again. When I tell people I didn’t imagine pregnancy to be this bad so early on they’re like ‘why would you have thought that!’ And I’m like??? Because everyone I seem to talk to even now says they were never sick and loved pregnancy!😫 wishing you all the best x

Birthing ball is great for posture and easing aches. I have a BABYGO - NHS recommended x
