Generally there are 2 methods depending on how often she's nursing and why. One session or time block at a time or cold turkey. If she's nursing mostly for comfort, I would wean cold turkey and offer water in a spill-proof cup and snuggles instead of boob. If she's nursing mostly for nutrition still, I would wean one session or time block at a time. Keeping in mind that once you decide that boob is not available at a certain time, stick to it. Be consistent and ride the wave of the impending tantrum. Keep in mind that if your nursing journey is still working for both of you, there is no need to stop yet.

@Charlotte , yes she is more of a comfort feeder at this age .. she wants it for a nap & sometimes when she’s fussy.

@mila 🎀 I would work on cutting the fussy nursing first. As it'll be easier to distract her when she's fussy than when she's tired. A script along the lines of "it's ok to be sad. It's not time for mommy's milk right now. Would you like a snack or to go play instead?" may be really helpful for the weaning process

Ive just weaned my 2 year old. She was a total Boobie monster before! First i cut over night feeds as they were taking their toll, this was the hardest part and where i had the most resistance from here but it only took a few nights. Then i cut all feeds outside of the home. Then dropped all of the feeds during the day. These were just on demand when she wanted comfort, she didn’t feed to sleep. Next i stopped offering her morning feed, i just made sure we got up and going first thing. Finally i cut out the bedtime feed, i asked her if Santa could take the milk for a little baby and we kept talking about it in the lead up to Christmas. She had a last feed on Christmas eve and hasn’t asked since. Obviously you can’t use santa now but maybe a fairy? Your little one might be too young to understand though.

@vicky aw this is super cute , she may be a little to you lol 🥹 but this is a good idea. i will just try to cutt out her feeding for night time / nap because that is the hardest
